Oakpark’s History

Oakpark were initially involved in installing intruder alarms to domestic properties. Very early on the Company’s reputation for high standard of installation coupled with an unsurpassed level of after sales service started to attract orders from builders to whom supply and installation of a burglar alarm within budget and on time were critical issues. Factors which are as relevant today as ever, and have resulted in business relationships spanning many years. For example, the first order from Harry J. Palmer (Broadstone) Ltd and Barratt Homes date back to 1989 and Oakpark have been in a continuous on-going business relationship with both companies ever since.

Likewise Oakpark’s end users have stayed with them. They have satisfied clients with maintenance contracts with them which date back to 1984, the year the Company was founded!

Installation of security systems direct to home owners and via builders, as well as commercial and industrial clients has grown steadily throughout their twenty seven year history, but so has the call for other forms of electronic security – CCTV, access control and fire alarms, such that Oakpark Alarms are now one of the largest independent security companies in the region.

Expanding range of security related systems

Whilst the Company has traditionally completed CCTV installations for commercial and industrial users, recent reduction in material costs, coupled with greater functionality has led to a spectacular increase in CCTV work, particularly from the domestic sector. Meanwhile their involvement with specialist builders, industrial and commercial end clients has increased the number, size and complexity of access control and fire alarm installations completed.

Oakpark’s ability to certify installations resultant from their membership of the SSAIB and BAFE approval ensures installations meet insurance company requirements but, equally importantly, give the end user peace of mind. Current indications of a move by Fire Brigades for certification of alarms before allowing the issue of a URN may make certification essential in the future. BAFE certification now will therefore prevent a big potential problem later on.
